Clayton Kershaw – Even with Chris Archer going today, Kershaw is pretty easily my top play of the day. He has been on a groove lately with 9 K’s in 7 of his last 9 starts, and is returning to the top of the pitchers ranking this year. Other than Sale and Scherzer he has arguably been the 3rd best pitcher with a few other guys, and today he should have another great day.
Max Scherzer – I really like Scherzer today and think that he is a better play than DeGrom. He has been dominating everything and everyone in his path, and Chris Sale is the only other guy that has been comparable to him this year. He is going against a depleted Braves offense, and it would shock me to see another 8-9 innings out of him today.
Johnny Cueto – Cueto may not be the strikeout type guy like Chris Sale yesterda, but he is definitely a very effective pitcher in his own right. He doesn’t give up very many hits or walks, and can still get some K’s almost having a 9.0 K/9. He is going against the Twins who struggle on the road, against righties, and in June so this should be a good matchup.
Chris Sale – What more is there to say about him other than he is completely dominant. He may have given up some runs to the Twins in his last start, but he struck out 10 guys again which is 7 times in a row. He has a prime matchup against the Cardinals tonight who struggle against lefties, and look for Sale to get 10+ K’s again.
CJ Wilson – This is a really difficult night to pick pitching as nobody really stands out. I do like Wilson as the Yankees don’t hit as well away from home, and Wilson has been solid overall on the season so far. He shuts down lefties, and really doesn’t give up many hits, so if he isn’t walking guys he should be in line for a great game.
