Clayton Kershaw – This was very close with David Price, with the price difference (no pun intended), but Kershaw against the Mets is just too good to pass up on. The Mets really struggle against left handed pitching to begin with, and with Kershaw being elite, they are going to have major problems. I fully expect over 10 K’s and hopefully 8-9 innings today from Clayton which will make him the top pitcher of the day.
Lance Lynn – Lynn is a very underrated pitcher in general, and with a great matchup against the White Sox, I expect a big day from him. He has 111 K’s in 103.1 IP which is great, and is rocking a 2.79 ERA which is also very good. The White Sox might have the worst offense in baseball, and even though they don’t strikeout a ton, I don’t see them doing much at all against Lynn Today.
Troy Tulowitzki – Tulo is easily the top play tonight as he crushes left handed pitching, and is going against Matt Harrison who is still struggling coming off an injury. This game is going to have a bunch of runs tonight so having exposure to it is very important. I like many other guys especially in this game, but Tulo at SS is as good as it gets.
Matt Harvey – Matt Harvey is the clear cut #1 pitcher today for cash games, and fading him I think is a big mistake. He has roughly 9.00 K/9 on the year with a 1.08 WHIP and just above a 3.00 ERA. I think that he can get even better this year as his numbers in the past have been better than what he has put up this year.
Jose Fernandez – He is my top pitcher of the day for cash games as he has been great in his return from injury. He is going up against a Phillies offense that as struggled recently against elite pitchers, and I expect those struggles to continue today. He doesn’t pitch quite as well on the road, but I expect him to get some run support today, and for him to approach 10 K’s.
