In this article I will highlight some players playing some good hockey however are owned in fewer than 20% of Yahoo leagues. This list is primarily meant for deeper leagues or very competitive Fantasy Hockey leagues but is also meant to bring awareness to all Fantasy Hockey owners.
Vincent Trocheck | Florida Panthers | C, RW (15% owned)
Trocheck, in his 3rd season, is currently the number 1 center for the Florida Panthers (playing alongside Jonathan Huberdeau) and is having himself a nice season. He currently has 10 goals, 11 assists, 60 shots on goal, and has 8 power play points. Trocheck opened his season with 4 points in his first game then proceeded to not register a point in the next 5. Since then he has been fairly consistent (did have a 4 game pointless streak in November). The Panthers are 4th in the Atlantic Division and will continue to fight for a playoff spot. In deep leagues he should be added.
Brock Nelson | New York Islanders | C (12% owned)
As a Rangers fan it always pains me to say anything nice about an Islander, so there must be something good about Nelson. He has 12 goals and 8 assists for 20 points. In his 3rd season he is on pace for career bests in all three of those categories. Nelson has a career best shooting average of 16% this season. His career average is 11.6%. The Islanders are 9th in the league in goals scored and playing in a top 6 roll should allow him to keep producing.
Tyler Bozak | Toronto Maple Leafs | C (13% owned)
The Maple Leafs have been awful this season but Bozak is having a very nice season. Bozak has 8 goals and 14 assists for 22 points in 28 games this season. In addition he has 8 power play points. Bozak had 49 points the last two seasons which includes the 2013-2014 season where he only played in 58 games. If he remains healthy the rest of the season he should be a lock for total points in the high 40s while potentially breaking the 50 point total for the first time in his career. Deep leaguers should add Bozak if they are in need of a Center.
Alex Killorn | Tampa Bay Lightning | C, LW (8% owned)
Hasn’t exactly been a good season so far for Alex Killorn with only 6 goals and 9 assists for 15 points, however recently he has been producing. He has 2 goals and 3 assists over his last 4 games (a 4 game point streak). Killorn had a career best 0.54 points per game last season and there was some hope for him to build off of that. Overall the Tampa offense has been bad. The Lightning are ranked 22nd out of 30 teams in goals scored in the NHL. If the Lightning get it figured out offensively look for Killorn to be a part of that.
Brandon Pirri | Florida Panthers | C, LW, RW (19% owned)
Another Florida Panther has made the list. This time it is Brandon Pirri who is on pace to destroy his career high in points (it was 24 points last season). Pirri has 7 goals and 11 assists for 18 points. He also has a nice 7 power play points and 82 shots on goal. Florida offense has been good this season, currently sitting tied for 11th overall in goals scored. Pirri had a nice streak from December 8th to the 17th with 2 goals and 5 assists in 5 games. Having three position eligibility is also nice flexibility for owners.
