In this article I will be taking a look at some players under 50% owned, that are on hot streaks. I will be using Yahoo ownership. These are some players that you should be watching and possibly add if your team is struggling.
Shane Doan | Arizona Coyotes | LW, RW 37% Owned
The 39-year-old is showing he can still keep up with the speed and skill of the NHL. Over his last 10 games, Shane Doan has 9 goals, 2 assists, is a +7, 37 shots on goal, and has added 12 hits. Doan is shooting a career high 18% right now. His career average is 10%. The Coyotes have a good young team and is 2nd in the Pacific. Doan will not keep producing like he has, but with his LW and RW eligibility he should have a spot in deep leagues.
Jordan Staal | Carolina Hurricanes | C, LW 14% Owned
Jordan Staal has been playing well recently. He has 3 goals, 3 assists and is a +5 over his last 4 games. Staal went scoreless in his last game, but before that he had 3 games in a row of 2 points. While this looks great, those 6 points account for 29% of his point total for the whole season (Staal has played in 44 games). Staal is the team’s 3rd line center and his upside is limited. However, there is nothing wrong with riding a player while they are hot.
Anders Lee | New York Islanders | C, LW 27% Owned
You don’t hear too much about Anders Lee but he is quietly having a decent season. Recently Lee has 2 goals, 3 assists, 15 PIM, 14 hits, and 26 shots on goal. In his second full season, Lee is trying to build upon his 41 point output from last season. The Islanders have a high powered offense and will be in the thick of the playoff race down the stretch.
Jason Chimera | Washington Capitals | LW, RW 14% Owned
Jason Chimera is another player who should be on the watch list on owners in deep leagues. Over his last 10 games, Chimera has 4 goals, 4 assists, is a +8, 14 hits, and 28 shots on goal. On the season Chimera has 25 points and has added 9 power play points. He plays for the best team in the entire NHL and deserves a look as an add to help your team.
Andrew Shaw | Chicago Blackhawks | RW 15% Owned
Andrew Shaw will not save any struggling teams nor put a team over the top but he is a player to watch. Shaw has 2 goals, 5 assists, 6 PIM, is a +9, has 17 hits, and 21 shots on goal over his last 9 games. Shaw should see top 9 minutes on a very good Blackhawks team. Deep leaguers (16+) should be watching Shaw if they need help at RW.
Louis Domingue | Arizona Coyotes | Goalie 43% Owned
Just want to add in a goalie. Louis Domingue has been one of the best goaltenders in the league over the last month. His stats on the season: 7-2, 2.14 GAA, .932 SV%, and 2 shutouts. If he is available in your league for any reason and you need goaltending help, he should ne added. He has taken over the top spot on the depth chart on the second place team in the Pacific. Interesting thing about Domingue is he is left handed. Most goalies are right handed, so when players are taking shots, it is a much different look shooting against a goalie with his stick hand the opposite of where they typically shoot.
