This was a very tough decision because Chris Sale has been so good lately, but Carrasco simply has the better matchup tonight. He almost threw a no hitter in his last start, and going against the Astros is as good as it gets for a pitcher. I expect a lot of strikeouts tonight, and I will continue to see how the Astros look minus George Springer.
Clayton Kershaw – Even with Chris Archer going today, Kershaw is pretty easily my top play of the day. He has been on a groove lately with 9 K’s in 7 of his last 9 starts, and is returning to the top of the pitchers ranking this year. Other than Sale and Scherzer he has arguably been the 3rd best pitcher with a few other guys, and today he should have another great day.
KD has established a large social media presence in the midst of returning to the court and his MVP level of health. Recently, he just dropped the KD8s at a recent event in Culver City. Durant has established himself as an ambassador for Nike and string of partnerships with the likes of Sparkling Ice and Neff. His presence in the Western Conference should continue to make the Oklahoma City Thunder a dangerous team in the league. The progression of the development of the combination of Durant and Russell Westbrook will further generate their interest within the media and his fantasy production.
Max Scherzer – I really like Scherzer today and think that he is a better play than DeGrom. He has been dominating everything and everyone in his path, and Chris Sale is the only other guy that has been comparable to him this year. He is going against a depleted Braves offense, and it would shock me to see another 8-9 innings out of him today.
Johnny Cueto – Cueto may not be the strikeout type guy like Chris Sale yesterda, but he is definitely a very effective pitcher in his own right. He doesn’t give up very many hits or walks, and can still get some K’s almost having a 9.0 K/9. He is going against the Twins who struggle on the road, against righties, and in June so this should be a good matchup.
